Dance Classes at Klang / Port Klang

Shela Devi Manoheran was initiated into Bharatanatyam at a tender age of 7 by the encouragement of her beloved mother. As one of the preliminary disciples of Guru Shanthi Murugiah of Sathveeka Bharathalaya, she got a good foundation in dance and became an inspired and dedicated Bharatanatyam exponent.

Her journey in public performances begins at the age of 10 with Kodam and Koladdam Dance, choreographed by her Guru, at few places in the city.

She completed her Salanggai Poojai under Guru Shanti Murigiah’s guidance in 1989 at Chettiar Hall, Kuala Lumpur.

Later groomed by the noted Master Ganesan of Sri Ganesh Dance Academy, Shela learnt the importance of fame in Bharatanatyam. She had many prestigious performances at huge number of places with her Guru and acquaintances. She also has played an important role in one of Master Ganesan’s dance drama as Narathar in “Thiruvilaiyaadal”.

Shela completed her STPM successfully and continued her studies at University Technology Malaysia. Currently she is attached to an Argentinean International Manufacturing Company.

She then came under rigorous dance training and tutelage of a reputable Guru, Smt. Meera Veenugopal, one of the foremost disciples of the legendary, The world-renowned Dhananjayans of Bharata Kalanjali.

Feeling blessed to be in the family of Bharata Kalanjali, Shela learnt many important guidelines in Bharatanatyam and realized the importance of Abhinaya (Expression) in dance performance for the first time. Also with Bharata Kalanjali, Shela has given several dance recitals and received appreciations. Currently Shela is a Teacher in Bharata Kalanjalli Malaysia.
Shela believes that generosity and devotion of a Guru in sharing all their knowledge with disciples with no hesitation, leaves the Gurus at a superior place in a disciple’s heart. As appreciation, it gives a special resilience to the disciple to bring up the best in them.

It always been her dream to learn more and to experience the joy of doing something creative and establishes an identity as an artist.

With all these years of involvement in this beautiful art, Shela believe it's her duty to pass it on...
